With a legacy built on timeless Detroit hip-hop, Slum Village hits the stage at Fortune Sound on April 10th, with support from Vice Souletric.
Slum Village, formed in Detroit in the early '90s by T3, Baatin, and J Dilla, became a cornerstone of the city's hip-hop scene. With Dilla's influence and Young RJ joining in 2009, they continued to innovate with albums like Trinity and Detroit Deli, featuring hits like "Tainted" and "Selfish." T3 and Young RJ have kept the legacy alive with Villa Manifesto and YES, including posthumous work from Dilla. Their recent projects, like the album F.U.N. with Cordae and Larry June, showcase their growth while staying true to their roots, solidifying their place as a legendary force in Detroit hip-hop.
Vice Souletric, co-founder of United Grind, is an Ohio-based hip hop artist and producer who fuses True School Hip Hop with a modern twist. His latest album, Vice for President 4, features high-quality production from Pete Rock, Nottz, Apollo Brown, and more, alongside collaborations with Slum Village, Elzhi, RJ Payne, and others. The album concludes the Vice for President series and highlights Vice's position as a leading figure in hip hop, delivering a message-driven sound that resonates with both old-school and contemporary audiences.
