House On Fire Comedy (early)
Presented by House On Fire Comedy
This month guests include:
Stand up – Alex Sparling
Born in Winnipeg and raised in Yellowknife, Alex has been a fixture on the West Coast comedy scene since bringing his unique and charming brand of comedy to Vancouver in 2009. Since then, he’s performed on hundreds of shows and won numerous local competitions including the 2015 Vancouver Yuk Off.
His racy jokes about animals, asthma and the loss of his eye earned him a place in the “Top 3 Comics in Vancouver” in the 2014 SiriusXM’s Top Comic Competition. And just last year, Alex was one of 10 finalists to showcase at the Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles for an NBC TV Stand-up for Diversity showcase.
Alex still brings his goofy, high energy, surreal style of comedy back to the Northwest Territories every year, but if you see his name in your city, make sure to catch his show. You’ll be glad you did.
Sketch – Proud of You
Realism isn’t necessarily Proud of You’s strong suit. When the Vancouver sketch group takes the stage, prepare yourself for a cartoon world packed with weirdos, pratfalls, smooth ragtime jazz and French Stewart impressions. Proud of You has performed in the Vancouver International Improv Festival and the Just for Laughs Northwest Short Shorts Festival, but they’re most at home doing their monthly show at alt-comedy hot spot Little Mountain Gallery.
Improv – National Anthem
National Anthem is an comedy group based in Vancouver, BC and made up of Ronald Dario, Patrick Dodd, Kerri Donaldson, Allie Entwistle, Andy Goertz and Geoffrey Walter.
National Anthem were voted runner up for Best Local group at the 2016 Vancouver International Improv Festival, are past winners of Instant Theatre’s CAGEMATCH TOURNAMENT and have performed at the 17th Annual Del Close Marathon, and the Vancouver Sketch Comedy Festival.
Brian has been performing comedy and hosting shows for the last 17 years. His breadth of experience performing and producing has taken him across stages from Second City in Toronto to here in Vancouver, where he is a mainstage cast member at Vancouver Theatre Sports League, everywhere in between and in television and film.
Cameron has over 15 years of experience in sketch, improv and film. He is the host of the beloved HERO SHOW, an award-winning actor and filmmaker, and has produced and curated comedy programming for Just for Laughs NorthWest and OLIO Festival. He was the executive producer and head writer for the Roast of Mayor Gregor Robertson and was a member of the team that brought you ShitHarperDid.com.
